Identify some new re-identify some old

Hello again, finally with better pictures. I cannot say enough how much I am enjoying the forum and advice given. Looking at 'Hob's' pics on what happens in a year is scary! I feel it starting... Incorrectly ID'd as Hildewinteria aurespina, it is Cleistocatus winteri, 19" tall. http://home.comc...

Plant and pot size - I read constantly that watering 'once a week' is typically ok but that can't be ...

Leaning

Hello, about 3 weeks ago I re-potted a 14" or so columnar. It has decided to lean slightly off center since. Would it be ok to straighten it..is "too soon"? I take care not pack the soil in etc but be firm enough to support the plant - how does one determine the sweet spot? Did I do s...

That looks similar to Opuntia I have. I will to post better pictures, eventually. http://flickr.com/photos/grandviewst/500219408/ What causes the discolorations on the flesh and varying color around the aureolas? Are the random number of spines from each common? New growth has a reddish appearance a...

Apparently I could use some help in the identification of my cacti, thanks much for clarifying. I am rather disappointed in myself and my handling of the Oreocereus. I am eager to learn more and start applying some science to my caring. I have always done things by "feel" and common sense ...

Identification and Advice

Hello, fantastic site and great forum. I have kept a variety of cacti for many years somewhat successfully. Lost a few, rehabbed a few, have had good luck with cuttings etc. These past few years however I am running into problems more than ever. I have combed through this site and others in an effor...
