Re: New guy here to show my grafts!

Yes, the Pereskiopsis is very good to learn on. I have started using other stocks and have found that the success rate is lower. But I tend to cut corners a lot being lazy and whatnot. I bought some of the moon cacti that were grafted to Hylocereus. I degrafted the Gymnocalycium so that I would get ...

Re: New guy here to show my grafts!

Wanted to drop in and show everyone what I am working on for the upcoming Spring grow. I have a lot of Pereskiopsis stock ready and more than enough seedlings to top them all. I was planting the peres in 1-3 gallon pots in bunches but that was not cutting it. I bought some garden potting bins and ju...

San Pedro with side car

Here is a mutant Pachanoi I grew from seed. It was intended for grafting but grew an odd little arm that keeps getting bigger so it has spared the knife. It is a little over a year old now and I cant wait for this spring/summer.

Re: Buying prickly pear cactus

I live in Louisiana and I have found it wild here along the Red River. Most likely from upstream fields, but it shows up on the sandy soils along the river. They are often a dwarf variety but from time to time I run across a large specimen. Of course I take samples of the ones I find. Actually all o...

Go for it! To those who say failure is for sure, I say in failure is a sure lesson. What will work will be something to be proud of and what does not, well, consider it valuable experience.

Re: Learning to Grow from Seed

Very nice work. Raising seedlings is fun but often difficult. Every little thing needs to be right all of the time. I went from one problem to the next with my first year of seedlings. Now I see what I did wrong and mostly keep them happy. It is to me the most rewarding part of the cactus world, rai...

Re: New guy here to show my grafts!

Had to come back and correct the picture uploading issue. Was taking to long to upload so I only put a few up, but you get the gist. Mostly the same types just done over and over. I will buy cacti at the store to take the pups for grafting. I plant as many seeds as I have room for. Problem with the ...

Hello fellow cactus lovers

I am glad to have found this place. I look forward to reading more from you all. Winter is so boring but my indoor area is packed and no room to do any new work until warmer temps. I started growing cacti a couple years back and the first winter I tried to keep them outside in a greenhouse. The snow...

New guy here to show my grafts!

Hello to everyone. I am new to the forum and wanted to show my current grafts. I have a lot of mixed grafts in pots of pereskiopsis. I started grafting a couple years ago. I was inspired by another forum member, Hanazono. I came across a post of some cool grafts. I had started raising seedlings and ...

Re: Hana's grafting in 2014/2015

Hana is the reason I am collecting Cacti. I saw a post years ago on another forum. I become obsessed with grafting at that point. I thank you Hanazono, you have given me a special gift.
