. . . wow!! Those images would make an awesome slideshow for someone just getting bitten by the bug, to give them a good example of what sort of forms are possible with all the plants out there in Cacti & Succulent land. Some of those plants are truly mesmerising . . . . . . thanks for the link,...

Nice plant!

Tell me, how difficult are they to keep happy? I've seen a few pseudolithoses in a few books, but they're usually accompanied by a 'not for the beginner' tag.

How easy/difficult are these plants to maintain . . ? Is it worth me gettin' my hands on one to give it a go . . ?

On the small, highly improbable chance that this applies to someone else out there, New Zealand's hardiness zone's can be found at:

. . . and yes, I'm still sore about the Rugby World Cup.

. . . while not *exactly* on the current thread of conversation here, I noted your plants were being taken out of plastic, and into terracotta. All of my plants are in terracotta, and even though I'm only a year into the whole cactiphillia thing, my collection seems to be happy with it. Sure, the Ne...

. . . I'm wondering if what's being asked is should lithops flower in the same season that they split, or should splitting and flowering occur at different times of the year? According to here , they should flower near the end of Autumn, and split/grow during Winter. Note however that this is from s...

Re: rainy weather

Is it cloudy and raining where some of you are? . . . whachewtalkinabout, Willis? It's nearly mid-Autumn down in New Zealand-land. While there is a bit of sun around at the moment, enough to have any cactophiles running about frantically every morning to make sure our plant de jour gets the lion's ...

Hi Gene, Much thanks for your input; it's greatly reassuring to get feedback from someone who, by their volume of contribution to these forums, obviously knows what they're talking about. Good to know that most of my plants will take care of themselves, and that they aren't as 'fragile' as I had tho...

. . . immediately after posting, it dawned on me to check the SotM posts, and sure enough, P. namaquanum is covered here . So it seems that Autumn is indeed the growing season for this plant, and I should be watering it. This is good, as I have been. But does this apply for any other Pachypodium spe...

Pachypodium/Adenium care through Winter

Greetings, all. I have somewhat recently been given a few Pachypodiums and Adeniums to care for, just as Autumn is making its presence felt, and Winter is knocking at the door. I'm very quickly falling for the sculptural, statuesque form of these plants, and would be very sad to see them die due to ...

Well, I did the deed, and planted both off-shoots anyways. With autumn brooding, I'm in the process of moving all my plants under cover, so I thought it'd be easy to keep them dry. For reference, I potted them both on Coromandel Cacti's own home-made mix which, as a fellow Aucklandite, you may be fa...

Planting off-shoots in Autumn . . ?

Starter for 10, no conferring: Is it wise to put cuttings into soil at the end of Autumn/beginning of Spring? I've . . . ummmn . . . 'come across' healthy off-shoots of both Consolea rubescens and E. trigona , have dried them out for a fortnight, and am ready to stick them in some dirt. But with Sum...

. . . it's like in the movie A Bug's Life.

That's his crib, that's where he hangs out. And when you go to bed each night, all his bug-chums come out and talk and run around doing cartwheels and stuff. No, really.

Plants vs. the New Zealand sun

Morning, all. Through my recent daily browsings of this site, I've noted a few New Zealanders popping up with posts and comments here and there. While this question is primarily aimed at them, input from anyone-who-knows-more-about-this-stuff-than-me -- and that's pretty much everyone -- would reall...

. . . very nice Adenia! The size of its caudex relative to its height and leaf-mass is bonasi-like in proportion.

How tall is that plant . . ?
