Hey everybody! Does anyone know where I might get a cutting of C. forbesii var. spiraliforme? I can make trades, I've got access to a particularly nice specimen of monstrose C. peruvianus!!!
Thanks for your help,
Roger Rozzi

Re: Prickly Pear soda
They sell this stuff in little novelty Cracker-Barrel-esque gift shops. It tastes pleasant enough, but not at all like an Opuntia tuna to me. I'll admit though that I've never had a tuna from anywhere but an Indiana market, so I imagine I've probably only tasted those fruits with the most limited fl...

Re: Stapelia and Huernia
Great, thanks so much! The only thing that confuses me about S. grandiflora is that I've seen a lot of pictures in which the stems are somewhat fuzzy and the wings are a lot more prominent, whereas the stems of mine are very waxy and with much less prominent wings. However I live in Indiana and know...

Stapelia and Huernia
I decided not to waste everyone's time until they finally flowered! Could you please help with ID? As for the Stapeliad, the flower led me to think grandiflora but the stems coax me toward gigantea. As for the Huerniad, it was labeled at a conservatory as H. erectiloba, and I have agreed until these...

Am I inhibiting the CAM cycle?
In my new apartment I have a balcony which really only gets sunlight for about two hours in the evening as the sun sets. My potted cacti and succulents seem to be happy with the amount of light, but they've ceased to grow and proliferate - some people would like this situation, I am not one of them!...

Re: why is my dragon fruit cactus doing this
I've grown H. Undatus for years in northern Indiana. It has experienced plenty of nights below 50 degrees F, and done fine as long as it was able to get plenty of direct sun within the week to warm it up. I would caution letting it have too much lightif the greenhouses are still below 50 degrees F. ...

Ok, that's similar to what I've read. I'm trying to find more quantitative information regarding light requirements, e.g. photoperiod. Thanks for the info, your plants make me wish I lived in Florida!

Will my Hylocereus flower and fruit?
Hi there! 15 years ago I bought one of those red Gymnocalycium monsters grafted to a Hylocereus - assuming it's H. undatus. I always let it propagate itself, but in the last couple of years I started really cultivating some vigorous clones. My question is: will it eventually flower and fruit? The re...

Hylocereus ID and question
Here's a vigorous Hylocereus. I've always ignored H. undatus as an option because the ribs have always been pretty linear and had no curves/undulations. However these new large arms are forming with prominent rib undulations and a more prominent thorn at the center of each areole. (Note - the parent...

Confusing cactus
Hi there, I was allowed to take a cutting from a nice looking cactus in a greenhouse environment. It has a very odd rib structure - it seems like ribs arise at arbitrary points in the stem, then sometimes disappear. It also has a confusing branching habit - branches don't look to me like they're ari...

Re: Small cacti ID help!
You're right that the hylocereus prefers a more organic soil, while the others would prefer mineral.
You're also right about that one looking sick, and the Mamm. exhibiting a shade response. I have no sunlight, and I've procrastinated on buying higher power lights.
Thanks for the Mammillaria ID!
