Are you sure that plant isn't a mammillaria spinosissma 'un pico'. It doesnt look like gemispina nobilis at first glance.

Re: November 2017 - Schlumbergera truncata
I have used schlumberger hybrids for quick grafts to save a seedling or small pup before, easy to work with and easy plants to keep around. I don't graft plants normally but it can be useful at times. Anyway back to the topic the only SPECIES I grow is S. opuntioides. Lovely genus and thanks Dave fo...

Re: Any one has Echinopsis schick hybrid seeds to share?
I know the threads a bit old but just for info purposes, named hybrids can only be propagated vegetatively. They wont come true from seed. Although seed produced from them might produce some lovely plants, if you want the named hybrids it has to be cuttings.

After that event all the trays and surrounding floor got a liberal sprinkle of pellets, next day there was many dried up slugs and yes snails too! grim but satisfying.

Re: Stealth flowers
that's a lovely plant, I had a pot of seedlings of these that were approaching 18 months old when a darn slug ate the lot one night earlier this year
They ignored everything else and just had these.

Re: Help me identify my cacti :)
I would think the sap is leaking out as the plant is quite spiny and its quite possible its own spines have punctured the adjacent stems.
Re: SuccSeed
Yes I've had seeds from them before and very good germination. No problems with payment or shipping, just make sure how you feel about replacements for out of stock items, as they are too busy to let you know if they don't have something. So specify alternatives when you order or leave it up to the ...

Re: Discocactus first flowers -- in October!
That's a beautiful plant and flower, I would love to grow some discocactus species but I'm not in position to give them the winter warmth they need right now. Maybe in a couple of years time.... I'm finding this year to be little "funny", my cacti are supposed to be going to sleep but a fa...

Re: any of ya'll getting ready for dormancy?
Trying to get mine dried out and ready, the weather hasn't completely played ball around here though. So while some are getting there I still have a few plants producing new flowers, such as my Gymno baldianum p127 and a mamm fraileana.

Re: Some nice Lobivia colors
Beautiful flowers, I especially like the pinker one. They are different because they are not the same, by rights a named hybrid should be propagated only vegetatively and from then on all subsequent plants with that name are clones of the original. I've seen many pictures of xchaemaelobivia hybrids ...

Re: What or the most wanted or fashionable cactus?
I work in pharmaceutical (plus other chemicals) r&d and I think there is always a lot of "what people will accept" factored into political decisions. For example if tobacco were 'discovered' today, it would almost certainly be banned as an illegal substance, but it's been around for a ...
