Re: The Nicest... or My Favorite....

David Quail(Aristocacti) has Aztekiums,Geohintonia,Obregonia Strombo and the like on their own roots for sale. Also Andreas Wessner (WessnerKakteen) has A.ritteri on own roots. Both are very reliable. Just two growers that i know of and have bought from.

Re: Latin Lovers...

That explains it. The germans wrote descriptions in latin but used their own kind of measurements for a long time after others started to use the metric system.

Re: Few new recruits this week

I was a bit hasty in trying to identify your plants ](*,) Of course it´s not a notocactus but a Frailea pygmaea. And for the Disco-it´s very individual when the cephalium starts to grow. I have plants in 10cm pots that hasn´t started cephalia yet,but have some in 6cm pots that have relly nice cephal...

Re: I just produced some wariegated cacti.

Hello Maja. To me it looks like they weren´t completely dry when the cold came and so are "goners". The Echinopsis isn´t that hard hit and will probably survive but the other two, don´t think so. I have had this happen to a few of my own plants before and at the time when you see them like ...

Re: My two sulcorebutia rauschii

I agree totally with the sentiment regarding SR raushii. Have maybe 10-12 pots with different forms and while it´s true that the main heads stays relatively small, the clumps will eventually grow big. Have two pots 18-20cm which now are overflowing and in dire need of repotting.Other clumps have been...

Re: Cactus or not

Hello !You should give your plant as much light as possible but no direct sunshine.Watering regime is depending on where you keep the plant. If indoors, water a bit every two weeks or thereabouts in winter,in summer every week. Also give a bit of fertilizer now and then. If possible keep it outside in ...

Re: Totally and completely dead

It happens to me every winter. For no obvious reason some plants turn to mush during december/januari. Sown at the same time, treated exactly the same during the years, suddenly one just up and dies while the other one is fine. :-k I think many of us have the same experiensis ?

Re: Recommend Fat Cactus

Copiapoas tend to be rather slowgrowing unless you live in a climate that allows for year-around-growing. So where do you live?

Re: Gymnocalycium mihanovichii opinions please

Yoy should not cut it off! the plant can´t survive on it´s own because it has no chlorophyll and therefore need to be grafted [-X

As you certainly know, there are fruits on your plant, not flowers. I don´t believe your plant is a polythele, but what it is :?:

Re: Cactus in poor condition

Cold and wet soil is a real no-no when it´s about a cactus, there´s a good chance it will lose its roots. I would put the plant in pure grit or cat litter (pinkcoloured, not grey)and move the plant to a place as cold as you can manage, well below 10C. But if you want to have the plant in room temperatu...
