Re: Cactus on TV

Very nice program, but the interviewer wasn´t all that well prepared it seems. Also a shame that such a young, goodlooking fellow didn´t dare to show his face

Re: Are they gone?

The yellowing is probably because the plant has been starved for loss of roots and you just put it a bit lower in the pot and forget about it ,since it has started to grow new roots. Good luck!

Re: Pronounciations

Since even latin scholars disagree about how you should pronounce words in latin it´s up to all of us to pronounce plant names as we believe they ought to be pronounced. I believe that each language has it own way to say them and you just have to try to understand which species the other guy is talk...

Re: Your Most Wanted - IN HABITAT

Well,i have already seen my most wanted! Being from the north of Europe it really was a dream come true when my wife and I had the good fortune that when driving down south through Arizona we were able to see thousands of Saguaros in full bloom! That it also changed my wifes attitude completely towa...

Re: Unkown to me. Can you help me, please?

According to Graham Charles most gymno´s can in fact take a lot of sun and since i started to follow his advice my gymnos have grown much better and flowers profusely here in Sweden where we seldom get temps over 27-28C on the hottest summerdays.

You might also try Internoto. It´s the german based Notocactus society and i believe that you might correspond with them in english also.

Re: A couple of questions

It could also be that the lophophora needs a deeper pot. They usually don´t have big tuberous roots, but all plants differ in that respect. About the gymno, you should depot it and have a good look at the roots. If it deflates in summertime there is trouble brewing.

Re: The Nicest... or My Favorite....

Yes, Ortegocacti are very goodlooking plants and very easy from seed and also in keeping alive. There are two forms, one with black and one with white spines making a nice blend. When I look at Promethean Sparks pics I almost regrets that I have given so many Ortego´s away. :?
