They grow only a few millimetres per year in habitat. In cultivation they can actually grow much faster. Some of these Halfmens plants were about 2.5 to 3 times taller than me.

Yes, in the Desert birds utilize telephone poles to build their nests, because there are not many tall trees around. This nest belongs to "Sociable Weavers" that live together in a community. Some of the nests get so large, that the telephone poles break under the weight. Here is another n...

This was close to Sendelingsdrif in the Northern Richtersveld (on South Africa's side of the park, but very close to the Namibian border).

Those are Mouse birds. They are very acrobatic, and not as camera shy as the Sunbirds.
