Here's a link to another Thai grower's site. He has some grafting vids up on YouTube, and directed me here when I was asking about them.

They are indoors all the time... if our meager sun isn't enough I have a 400w metal halide I can use to manipulate the seasons. I've only had my San Pedros since some time in June, so next year will be the big growing season. Almost everything I have is already resting for the year, and I'll probabl...

Wojtek, those look pretty san pedro to me... I don't have much experience with them, but the ones I have are from a very reputable source. Mine are a bit more stressed, but otherwise have the same appearance... the spines with the v-groove above them are pretty unmistakable.

If you're looking into using some hormone and don't have access to a university database, check it out on scirus.com. It's not the best, but you can find some pretty arcane articles. Here's a link for a search of cactus gibberellic acid. http://www.scirus.com/srsapp/search?q=cactus+gibberellic+acid&...

Imagine the disappointment of a blind person who ordered one of these.

The alt-text should read "picture of what is clearly a Lophophora"

Looks right to me. If you searched it and saw one with different colored flowers, it's because there is a lot of variation in this species. They can be yellow, white, pink, or somewhere in between. Seems to me there was a post on here recently about Coryphanthas being confusing.

Cool, I saw one there that appeared to be offsetting from the base as well, so I guess that answers the question.

Ol' Stumpy is finally waking up

So I managed to leave one areole on this Loph stump when I cut it for grafting, and it's finally busting out an offset. Question is, should I wait until the offset is large enough to leave an areole behind on it, or can I cut it sooner? I don't want to leave this plant without a means of offsetting ...

The blinds are a good thought, though it still depends largely on where you are relative to the equator. Here in Ohio, I don't think I've ever seen enough sun for seedlings or anything else for that matter, at least not without a decent sun room or greenhouse.

I currently have seeds under timed fluorescent lights in a SE window, and they're doing well; only one species has gone a bit red, and I grafted them to be safe. I've done seeds about 12 in. from a 400 w. metal halide, too, and had no problems with them. If you're in AZ or something you might get to...

I don't know about your seeds specifically, but I would make full use of the natural light and the artificial. If it somehow is too much light you can always move the seedlings later, but it's best not to start out with too little. You can get some weird seedlings if they get leggy in the first coup...
