As far as I remember, Gunnar waters all his cacti from the bottom, he has them all in trays and he just fills the tray with water then drains it off after a bit. Hehe can you believe that I actually copy and pasted "Opuntia poosycatiae" into google and didnt realise until google told me that it had found 0 results! I think O. pycnantha has glochids coming out of the areoles, although your version doesn't seem to. Hmmm.... Mine has little hooks too....

I thought about Cat Litter, but I concluded that the chemicals they add for scent control would make it a bad choice.
And of course you dont want cats making a mess of your cacti!

I've used a piece of that plastic netting that small oranges come in from the supermarket.

Hehe its amazing what you use when half way through a job of some sort (in this case repotting a plant).
