Re: I'm beginning to worry about my cutting

A few weeks is nothing. Growing succulents is about patience. Waiting for a succulent to root is just one reason of multiple reasons regarding patience. They are slow plants compared to other plants.

Re: Leaving my plants for 7 months. Advice needed

Where in het northern hemisphere? If you really really really get basically no or hardly a freeze during the winter, I would not bother with worrying about the cold. Basically any cactus can take up to -5C, especially if it is only occasional. The exception for a few of the known warmth lovers like ...

Re: Plant labels/ plant tags

For self sown seedlings, I put the year of sowing first, then a reference number to an excel sheet, then the genus and (sub)species name, and locality data (if available). I can write three lines of text with my label printer, so I make use of it. It's simple copy and paste from my excel sheet anywa...

Re: It is season for hiking again

Looks nice though, a scenery on top of a mountain. But a bit risky with gravity. I do like the look of all the crumbling rocks. Where there any cacti? We don't see mountains like this out here in the eastern seaboard. I don't see mountains like that here too. I have just cycled 140 kilometers today....

That is a nice book, I must say!

Re: Every day new flowers in the greenhouse in Köln

It is interesting to see your own greenhouses from a distance and an angle you might never have seen before, right? When one of the neighbours were moving, they had a drone making pictures of their house to post online for potential buyers to see. Some of the pictures included my two greenhouses. It...

Re: Sizes of your collection

I will not even start counting the number of plants or pots I have. I started growing in 1995. First few years on a window sill, since 1998 in a greenhouse. Most of my plants I have sown from seeds, about two thirds of the entire collection. I started sowing on a large scale since 2006, although I d...

For now I would think it is suffering from heat or light stress. But it in a more shaded spot and see if it does better in the coming months.

And immediately an update. More things gone. I don't have the mother plants of the Anacampseros anymore, so these are the last seeds of Anacampseros I can provide. I have the following species available for free to everyone, experienced or inexperienced: - Cyrthanthus brachyscyphus (?) (It looks lik...

Small update. Just a few more things gone. I have the following species available for free to everyone, experienced or inexperienced: - Allium virginculae (one portion of 13 seeds left) - harvest of winter early 2022 - Anacamperos arachnoides - harvest of autumn 2022 - Anacamperos namaquensis (ex JV...

Re: Cactus is floppy?

This plant is severely etiolated. There is no rescue, no way to get it back to "normal". What you can do is to cut off the top part (my guess is the top 1/3), allow the cutting to heal and then try to root it. The bottom 2/3 might make offsets that you can later on (if desired) cut off too...
