Re: What is the most impressive CA cacti&succulent show?

I've only been to the annual CSSA show and sale at the Huntington Botanical Gardens, and I've always been blown away by the number of vendors, variety of plants for sale, and the quality of the show plants. The Huntington also has a booth at the sale where they sell some of the plants they propagate...

Re: Yellow Spots forming on Myrtillocacti

I was not able to find the fungicides listed at the local hardware store, so I decided to go with a bottle of Neem Oil extract. I applied it on the Myrtillocacti yesterday, and I hope it works. It probably takes a week to see if the fungicide cured the fungal infection, right?

Signs of a virus?

I've noticed some light discoloration on a couple of my cacti. Is this a sign of a viral infection? They almost represent symptoms of Cactus Virus X.

Thanks for your inquiries in advance!

Re: I would like help on POSITIVE identification of seven ca

1) Most likely Pilosocereus pachycladus. The non-fuzzy one is P. azureus, which is a different form of P. pachycladus . 2) I agree that it's a Ferocactus 3) Looks like Echinocactus grusonii , the Golden Barrel Cactus 4) Both could be different species. The one on the left could be another E. grusoni...

Re: Identification :)

Hello,

Due to the many branches on this cactus, I'll say it's a monstrose opuntia of some sort.

Re: Yellow Spots forming on Myrtillocacti

Hello Francesca, I don't think there's a name for the fungus in English, but it is from the genus helminthosporium. I figured it was a fungal infection because the spots on the monstrose form seem to match the symptoms of various spot leaf diseases caused by fungi. I'll go to my local hardware store...

Re: Yellow Spots forming on Myrtillocacti

Lows in the upper 30's indoors? Myrtillocactus may be hardy to the mid 20s (or they may not!) The myrtillocacti were outside in a shaded patio and protected from the rain. Then, they were brought into the garage after observing the orange spots. I think it's because of the cold weather because they...

Yellow Spots forming on Myrtillocacti

I noticed these yellowish-orange spots forming on my Myrtillocacti during the past week. The spots are not mushy. I think it's because of the cold weather, as our nightly lows have been in the mid to upper 30s. However, my understanding of most Myrtillocacti is that they're hardy to the mid 20s (ple...

Re: Geohintonia mexicana mix

I decided to pot it in my regular cactus mix without the gypsum. Thanks for all your feedback!

Geohintonia mexicana mix

I need to repot my Geohintonia mexicana, and I found out they need a higher mineral content. Is a mix with 50% gypsum and 50% regular cactus mix (1/2 pumice, 1/8 lava rock, <1/8 peat moss, 1/4 super soil) recommended?

Wow! It's been a while since I logged in! I apologize for the long absence. Anyways, I brought a greenhouse during my absence. It was a Black Friday special, so I got it for a steal! It was very easy to set up and is also very sturdy. http://i837.photobucket.com/albums/zz293/Saguaro123_photo...

Hey everyone, This is my first update after being absent for over a month on the forum. Things have been going well in the garden.
