Re: Decoster Cactussen, Veurne, Belgium

What is image # R0000512? To be honest, I'm not sure. At first I thought it was a species of Cotyledon or Pachyphytum, because he had a lot of those for sale. At closer inspection and with the aid of Plantnet, I'm guessing it to be a cristate form of Echeveria setosa or pulvinata. I'm attaching som...

Re: MrXeric's seedlings 2021

More seedlings from 2021, around 2 years old when I took the pictures. Frailea castanea 'asterioides' . The slowest growing Frailea for me, active spring and fall and mostly dormant in summer. Astrophytum asterias . I killed the parent plants, so I am glad these are still alive! Astrophytum asteria...

Re: Who's on Instagram

I started a page recently, I sell plants/ handmade pots at the Cactus and Succulent Society of Greater Chicago show and sale, and every year I get a few people asking for my Instagram page. https://www.instagram.com/benswordcss/ That Operculicarya decaryi [/i] reminds me how utterly "obscene&q...

Re: Seedlings grew inside pod!

Yes, the fruit was ripe when this occurred. The odd part to go with this phenomenon is that the grafted G. mihanovichii seed pods never split open when ripe, so perhaps being inside a ripe seed pod for months is the perfect growing condition for slow growing seedlings like cacti and light does pass...

Re: Akadama?

I think that that there are many uses for akadama. The softer forms are proven to disintegrate quickly, but I use this condition to my advantage. Instead of using organic material with an equal rate of decomposition. for healthy root formation, akadama can give you the same advantage without the pro...

You present some important fundamental concepts on the history of digital photography. The needs for each person are as varied as the variety of current choices.

As the old saying goes: "Your mileage may vary".

Re: Seedlings stopped growing.

If my anecdotal evidence (FWIW) has any value, it may be you need to cycle your hydration periods for longer intervals. Allowing the soil to dry out somewhat between water applications usually stimulates more robust root development, and consequently further stem development. I hope other members &q...

Re: can you tell me what these are?

I bought a Ferocactus viridescens earlier in the fall that was infested with mealybugs on the spines. I used tweezers to pick them out and a small paint brush soaked with isopropyl alcohol to remove anything I missed. I watered with a systemic insecticide (imidacloprid) and sprayed the whole plant ...

That collection of Sarcocaulon peniculinum [/i] I know would sell for 3-5k. The Pelecyphora aselliformis [/i] could get 5k, and up at an auction. I used to have one that was also started in the late '60s, but a playful puppy ate it in the '80s. The comments on YouTube were started 2 weeks ago, and t...

Re: New Smart Phones take better photos than my Cannon

1st off, what resolution is your Canon? I own a Sony DSLR with 24MP resolution. There are 2 types of iPhone 15 Pro which have the best built in cameras for the series. Both the iPhone 15 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max have 48 MP optical sensors. The main difference between the 2 is the advanced tele...

Re: Adi's collections - monthly update

I can understand flowers being a bit too intense. My T. alonsoi are too young to flower, but my Trichodiadema densum and Echinocereus pulchellus have these intense, magenta flowers that can be quite blinding in the sun that I have to look away before long! Pachypodium is something I haven't tried g...
