Amazing plant Steve!

Keith, that rot is my big worry. The bigger they get the easier they rot is what I've heard about a few similar Mammillaria species.

I have two that I'm hoping to get some more input on in terms of overwintering.

How does everyone overwinter/water Mammillaria hahniana and Maihuenia poeppigii?

Keep in mind that they won't really have the same shape moving forward.

Great photo! When I think of older ornatums I've seen in person, these exact plants at the DBG are the ones that come to mind!

I think the place to start is to find local wholesale nurseries.
