Looking for ID's
Hi all! Can anyone identify these three plants? I'm not sure if the first two are Mammillaria (the first two photos are of the same plant of course)... The fourth was identified as Ferobegia. Could it be Leuchtenbergia principis? Thanks in advance! http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29...

I have seen something similar when repotting some cacti in my collection. It looked like a new plant was growing under the surface, attached to the mother plant. Since I didn't know what to do about it, I just repoted the cacti with the albino under the soil, as it was before. I wish I could remembe...

I had a carnivorous plant once, but my cats destroyed it. I think they are cool. I don't know if it's common for cacti lovers to have carnivorous plants too, but it seems that many grow orchids as well as cacti, two kinds of plants as different as cacti and carnivorous plants. All the b...

Once they get a year old, I transfer the cactus into regular cactus soil and water them every 3 weeks or so. I have sown some seeds in the end of May and the seedlings will be around 6 months old when winter comes. I have them outside now (no direct sunlight) and they seem to be growing well. My do...

Hi John. That would make sense in my mother's plant case. I can't convince her not to water the cacti like all other plants in her garden. She will argue that she's had the Opuntia for years and it's still alive. #-o As for my plant, I don't think the problem could be overwatering, since it hardly r...

Opuntia problem
Hi all! For as long as I can remember, my mother has kept an Opuntia which I believe is Opuntia microdasys. The problem is that in more than 20 years, it has never grown very much and it certainly hasn't produced any flowers. It produces new pads every year, but it loses the old ones, so the plant i...
