Re: The Cal-Mag of my dreams?
Hey Jerry & Steve, Thank you for the information. Unfortunately the labels of fertilizers here are quite brief. Biobizz wrote me just now they don't know the calcium/magnesium ratio. I'm not sure if I'm going to purchase it just yet. I added gypsum and limestone at the beginning of the growing s...

Re: The Cal-Mag of my dreams?
I’m a bit astounded as well they don’t know exactly what’s in there. I asked them again. Perhaps they are a bit slow, I dunno.

Re: The Cal-Mag of my dreams?
Biobizz CalMag is available in Europe and does not contain nitrogen for those who are interested. In an email they wrote: " Biobizz Calmag is a mix of calcium and magnesium stabilized with organic matter instead of nitrogen bases. This organic matter is mainly humic acids, which are always a ni...

Re: Goings on down under
I really like those small, compact Mammilarias. What type of rootsystem does it have? Is it in a bigger pot to prevent overheating of the soil too quick?

I remember that post from last year. Did you find out why that was happening?

Re: Best way/how to remove pups from a T. peruvianus
Just cut the pup off. No need to cut into the 'main stem'. Make sure the offsets are healthy and not too small. I don't know where you're from, but if you're from the northern hemisphere I would wait until early spring 2024. Unless you have a few months of warm weather and lots of bright indirect li...

Beautifull. Don't you ever think about making (habitat) stagings for your plant?

Re: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
The first 4 pictures are a bunch of cuttings I got over the summer. A big thank you to Nachtkrabb for the Selenicereus and Hatoria cuttings. It's still relatively warm here, so I hope to root them before autumn. Let's see. I'm very fascinated by the spination on the S. donkelaari (3rd photo). The st...

Re: Best wattage for succulents and cactuses
Cool, thanks for the info! The fact your lamp is dimmable makes it very versatile. You use the dimmer? I have yet to install my lamps, but they are full spectrum such as yours and the wavelengths are similar. I can't really follow with the "k" you are refering to. You are talking about col...

Re: Best wattage for succulents and cactuses
It all depends on the light output of the lamp. I think either you buy a (high quality) growlight which comes with sufficient information on how to position in accordance to your plants. Or you get yourself a (proper) measuring instrument like a Lux or PAR meter with which you measure the PPFD (PAR ...

Thank you for the informative video. My brother used to work for Apple. He regularly talked about how Apple was making their devices consumer unfriendly. Which means repairs are expensive and can only be done by certified repair shops. Apple attempts to squeeze every last penny from their consumers ...

I go trough 60-100 gallons each watering during most of the year You have an ebb and flow system? I've modified/extended a few of my gardening tools to make them easier for a taller person to use, especially my 3 prong cultivator. I made a dibble tip out of a stainless steel alloy in the early 1980...

Re: Handy Gizmos
I wasn't really serious about that.
I enjoy efficiently performing a task, but I also have great admiration for someone —like my father— who was able to do almost anything with the most basic tools. I'm talking about chores around the house. He is actually a very creative person.
