Re etiolation, really? It has quite a thick base though of approximately 4cm diameter, not sure how it's supposed to look if it has a base this thick and doesn't grow tall.

How do I cut this?

Hello! I've got a 6yr old cactus here that is pretty tall - about 32inch at its tallest point. As you can see by the pic, it currently has some sort of bamboo stick and string around it to hold it up, otherwise it just flops everywhere! The string isn't tight to the cactus, just making is to it quit...

I have read about corking but the pictures I've seen looked a little different to my cactus. At least I know what it is now and I can stop worrying!

I am going to read the forum about different soils and repot them this weekend.

Brown, wrinkly cactus!

Hello everyone! Okay so my cactus has become brown and flakey (mainly around the base, but other parts too). It isn't soft to touch and it's really flakey to the point where I could peel it off if I wanted to. Secondly, it has a few 'wrinkly' areas, which I suspect might be dehydration? But I cannot...
