Re: Cacti we've lost

Unfortunately, I just said goodbye to a Mammillaria microhelia. Was going beautifully last fall and going into the winter, but for some reason never came around this year. No sign of pests, no rot. I let it be but today finally pulled it and tossed it. Unfortunately, they are not easy to find.

You know, the Mammillaria elongata and stuff along those lines. Plopped them into a new pot with my bagged cactus soil and...

Re: On the question of limestone growers...

I'm curious about which cacti would benefit from Gypsum? I've read before where Turbinicarpus would possibly be helped. At this time my Turbs seem pretty locked in and doing well. Lophophora or Mammillaria? I'm not going to repot anything just for this, but maybe add a little when repotting in the f...

OK, that is cool. I need to try that. What is Marana like. Have been told to check it out by a couple of people.

Thanks guys for your help. I'm not going to make a big deal about it. I just always worried about interrupting the dark cycle but sounds like it will take more than these lights to do that.

Are my cactus doomed?

I saw my wife unraveling a string of lights and went out a little later to see this. My heart sank. It looks brighter in the photo than in reality, but still is lit up in the evening for a few hours when it should be dark. My thought is to just hang a piece of really high percentage shade cloth betw...

Very nice! Do you get good air circulation in there? I take it you are with us Northern Californians. I also see a Poots tag. Look forward to your new digs as they grow. I'm over in San Ramon Valley area.
