Re: Legality of Lophophora Decipiens
Noone has ever checked my flower beds so idk. HAHAHA.... If so, i think the law is very weak...it forbids the drug, but let the people have the source of the drug... Then, i suspect there are many who own L. williamsii at calif even though the law forbids it... Nobody check your cactus garden This ...

Re: A few questions concerning some species
I get way too impatient with Aztekium seeds germinating and sometimes I forget I was even trying to grow them. They should be germinated separately and kept sealed and moist for quite a bit longer than the average seed start.

Re: Deadly Potting Mix???
Sorry, just venting. Do you really all wear masks and gloves when planting your cacti? It's hard enough to hold on to the little beasts and get the roots straight in the soil without that. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I don't have a cheap mask, but I also don't have a very professional one...

Re: Using common window screen as shade cloth
Which lux light meter app are you using on your phone? I'd love to give something like that a try.
Here we have cheap landscape fabric for sale at our dollar stores and I've used that in the past as my transitionary shade cloth from going directly outdoors from a season of winter indoors.

Re: Just bought a variegated Schlumbergera
On the subject of light, I found they did very well with morning sun. While hot sun can easily sunburn them, they do like pretty good light. I found this to be true as well. Especially for recent cuttings, putting them underneath taller pots or taller plants does a great job of simulating the canop...

Re: Deadly Potting Mix???
It doesn't surprise me. In the past, I have cheaped out and bought some less than ideal potting mixes and found what appear to be all sorts of pathogens and fungus, besides the usual weed seed. As a child, I never wore gloves when touching potting soil. I always thought they were just another produc...

Re: Coco Peat and Perlite as potting medium
I would add some sand or other clay soil available to that mix. In my conditions mix like yours will be dry fast too so I put some sand, vermiculite or small-sized zeolite. The other option is to use larger pots, these dry out slower. This is what I was going to suggest. I love coconut coir, but wi...

Re: What I see today in Chatuchak market (Bangkok)
You only need to take a cutting or small offset back with you. Wow...it's a shame to leave a 4-5yo plant behind (i'll be back to indo at 4-5y from now) I can't live with that... x_x I'm always amazed at how well they grow Hylocereus as a rootstock. It's especially evident in how plump they are. It'...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQpqM7l4S20 Thanks for sharing Sir The simplest idea that works well, often escapes my mind Growth has been incredibly slow, but predictable and not finicky in any way. What do you mean? That a scion which is grafted on Schlumbergera will not grows into an obese unna...

Re: Grafting on Schlumbergera
I've tried this a few times on and off when they go on clearance after Christmas. I've never grafted directly to a fully mature plant. I've always just pulled off the fattest segments available on the plant, rooted in rock wool and grafted seedlings to the top. I've never used grafting tape or anyth...

Shane, I also have that book and have been considering taking the plunge. Like Sarraceniarcrazy mentioned, I've also considered carnivorous plants as test subjects, because from what I've read they are some of the easiest plants to do tissue culture from. Do you have any recommendations for getting ...
