Re: Help my pelecephoria
G'morning vincent_cm, I've been planting occasionally mostly copiapoa and a few Astrophytum few years but not for this, the difficulty level would be too high to me. Pelecyphra species are not difficult to keep and they are also easy to root. I rooted 3 strobilliformis and more than 20 aselliformis ...

Re: Hana's cacti
Cacti on the photo are Astrophytum hybrids, fukuryu banjyaku. They all are rooted off-sets. Since gene of ornatum is mixed in this hybrid, rooting is not difficult. Original ones were propagated from seeds given by my friend and so I do not know about the history of seeds. They show various faces. T...

Re: If you were to start over, what would you do differently?
G'morning 7george, First I thought that cacti are totally forbidden in Australia because of that old story with Opuntia and rabbits. I have lived in just two states, New South Wales and South Australia and I do not know the situation of other states. Opentia species are "pest plants" in So...

Re: Hana's cacti
G'morning Fatich and Nino_G, Have you ever checked the roots from time to time? How long after it started rooting? Checking roots during rooting process is not a good practice and so I have never checked roots. I set an off-set for the rooting in spring and the off-set is rooted by autumn which mean...

Re: If you were to start over, what would you do differently?
My current cacti collection is 4th which means I restarted 3 times from Nil. All interraptions of collections were caused by relocation in relation to my jobs. Between 3rd and 4th, I moved from Northern Hemisphere to Southern Hemisphere. Climate, available cacti, available potting-mix and pot and lo...
