ID Please
Pot is 4"/10 cm. Plant is 2" high and wide and is very old (approx. 8 years) and neglected until recently. Flowers are uninteresting white, but as you can see the fruits make up for it. Sorry I don't have pix of the flowers. You can see some tiny new buds forming. While repotting I discove...

Re: Advice on Putting a Large Beavertail into the Ground
We do have a winter rainy season in Israel, but we don't get much of it in the deserts in the south where I live. I have built a small mound for the cactus garden and have underground drainage for the occasional downpour. All that are in the ground now are doing great. I have lost some of the basila...

Re: Advice on Putting a Large Beavertail into the Ground
Steve, thanks again for more ideas on this method. I think I can snag some strong bamboo poles.

Re: Advice on Putting a Large Beavertail into the Ground
Aleichem shalom, Steve. Love your plan, thanks. I will have to improvise the boards. Lumber doesn't exist in this desert. Send a link to your carvings.

Advice on Putting a Large Beavertail into the Ground
I want to put a large potted Beavertail (Opuntia basilaris) into the ground without damaging the plant or getting the nasty glochids all over me. It is about 15x15" tall and wide in a 12" shallow bowl-shaped pot. I don't want to break off any pads for cuttings at this point if I can help i...

Re: ID? Coryphantha??
At first I questioned that it is Coryphantha cornifera because the photos I found showed none of the "cotton". Then I discovered ssp. radians. So I am going to accept that. Anyone disagree?

ID? Coryphantha??
Three photos of the same cactus - the ones with flowers/buds in 2018, the other is today. I think it's genus Coryphantha. Correct me if wrong. I really want to know the species and/or variety. Thanks in advance.

Re: Species of this matucana, please
Thanks to both Lucy-V and phil_SK. My plant looks more like M. ritteri than Matucana celendinensis based on comparing photos and Daiv Freeman's pic showing the similar pattern off offsets.
Matucana celendinensis is not listed on this Cactus Guide. Do you know of any synonyms?

Species for this Optuntia, please.
What is the species for this prickly pear? Pad at the top is 3.5" in diameter. The plant my cuttings were taken from is about 9 feet high and wide, growing under pretty extreme conditions between a gas station and mall in the desert mountains near the Dead Sea. I've seen no evidence of irrigati...
