I was repotting an agave I purchased and I found this guy in the soil. Maybe a euphorbia obesa or symetrica, but please tell me if I'm mistaken.
I dipped the underside in rooting hormone and set it on top of a soil mix that is 1pt potting soil, 2pts pumice, 1pt coir. I'm just going to let it sit there. Not planning on watering until I see roots. It's sitting in my kitchen window with morning direct light.
Advice?
Thanks!

Re: how to root a tiny euphorbia
I think you did everything right, all there is to do now is wait. Sometimes tiny ones like that don't root all that readily from what I've seen, but your soil mix and lighting sound good

Thanks cosmotoad! Very lucky to have found it to begin with, hoping the luck holds out and it sends out some roots.

Update, it has been slowly shriveling as shown in the following pics. Wondering if I should stay the course or add water, maybe put a ziplock upside down over the top to add some humidity? Hoping for the best.

Re: how to root a tiny euphorbia
I had the same thing almost the exact same size unknown euphorbia, put in a pot did the same thing it put out 1 tiny 1/4 inch root upon shriveling up and eventually went down to nothing I think a humidity bag may help as I wish I woulda went that route. Good luck!gerbmantz wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 7:41 pm Update, it has been slowly shriveling as shown in the following pics. Thanks! Sadly, I tried the bag, and the outcome was the same. A slightly more moist, shriveled death. Maybe grafting and then rerooting once it has grown a bit larger? I have no experience in that area, just a dangerous amount of curiosity having browsed through the threads of this forum's resident cultivation experts.
