G'morning oriky,
on pervious conversion, I asked you about the bottom plants, and you told me is just a dream kabuto, updated photo is attached

I add four more photos of different plants, can you tell me which plant is a true miracle? i want to start the pollination and save the plant pure miracle
1st photo: Yes this is a dream kabuto. Since the original miracle kabuto was just one, various asterias were crossed with. One of them was a dream kabuto.

I am not sure pure or not but I can see some asterias show the character of miracle kabuto on 2nd to 5th photos.

2nd photo
Left column: no miracle
Right column: 2nd and 3rd from top show the miracle

3rd photo
No miracle

4th photo
Left column: No miracle
Centre column: 1st, 2nd and 3rd from top show the miracle
Right column: 2nd from top shows the miracle

5th photo
Left column: no miracle
Centre column: 1st, 2nd and 3rd from top show the miracle
Right column: no miracle

1. you still think the plant on the 1st photo will turn into miracle? or is just Dream?
1st photo is a dream kabuto. It will not turn to a miracle kabuto.
2. what do you mean it mix gene of miracle, it's binary not? if it's show the character of miracle is is miracle, otherwish is not, am i wrong?
A miracle kabuto shows a mutation of flecking. You do not know when the mutation will start. You can confirm a miracle kabuto when the flecking mutation started.
Before starting of mutation, an asterias shows a character of miracle kabuto but it is just a possible a miracle kabuto.

I do not know sizes and ages of your asterias.
I can not see the flecking mutation on your asterias yet. Some of your asterias have thick fleckings which are not related the mutation.
You have to wait starting of flecking mutation for the final confirmation of miracle kabuto.

Hi Frank, really enjoy your posts on growing astros and arios from seeds. I’ve only started growing astros over past 2 years, and recently encountered an interesting seedling in a mix of asterias hybrids (one parent is likely ‘super kabuto’), would appreciate any input you may have on it please! :)

Am interested in the seedling on the right with the flecking (and aerole?), photos are 1-month old (left) and 2-month old (right). My guess is perhaps the 'Ooibo' trait, although it seems early for such a phenotype to present? Thank you!

G'morning wadebeep,

I can not give an accurate comment because seedlings are too young, 2 months old.
Right one shows a typical super kabuto seedling appearenc.
Ooibo is normally nudum form but your seedling shows flecking.
Round ones on second photo are not areoles. Areoles are not formd on a 2 months old seedling.

I can give more accurate comment for one year old asterias seedling.

Sveral pots of seedlings accommdated in wet-box have been out of the box.
They will be repotted next spring, in September. Some of them are shown on photos.

Hi Frank. Very impressive results! Regarding the germination pots shown in the first post - what is the size (width, height)? How much of the pot is filled (it appears to be around two-thirds)? Is the black sheet on which the pots are placed the heating pad? Thanks.

The pot is 10 cm square pot and 9 cm height.
The distance between top of pot and top of soil is 25 mm.
The black sheet is just a capillary mat. A heating pad is not used in here.

Thank you. During germination is the box cover on or off?

G'morning Lefty,
During germination is the box cover on or off?
The box cover is on during germination.
After the completion of germination, the wrapping sheet is removed but pots are remained in the box.

Small ventilation holes are on the box cover, 6 mm x 28 holes.

Some seedlings stay in the box for several years.

Thanks, Frank. Your setup sounds ideal. I should try germinating 'outdoors' now that summer is approaching - however I'll need to screen those holes to stop the slugs getting in :D
