Re: My modest collection
Not all tropical regions of the world have a wet climate all year round. Here in Brazil, for example, in most part of the country there is a dry season. As for Madagascar (from google) : "In Madagascar, two seasons are recognized: a hot, rainy season from November to April and a cooler, dry season from May to October. The east coast has a sub-equatorial climate driven by easterly trade winds, along with the heaviest and most consistent rainfall, with a maximum of 3,700 mm annually."abhikjha wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 8:15 amAwesome! Thanks for this tips! But wondering as this comes from a tropical climate of Madagascar, shouldn't it require all year warmth and watering?mmcavall wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 1:49 pm oh beautiful Euphorbias!
This confinalis is so cool.
I have tulearensis too, one ofmy "precious" plants. I took some time (some years) to understand this plant. Now I know that it likes sun and water in summer, but very few water in winter (and as my winter is hot and sunny, I protect it from the sun in winter).
E. tulearensis is from south west Madagascar, thus probably with a dry season. In Liffle we can read: "Water regularly during the active growing season. No water should ever be allowed to stand around the roots. Keep almost completely dry in winter. Even though the swollen caudex ensures a long lasting water reserve making it very tolerant of under watering, this euphorbia is difficult, turning immediately to mush when over watered, or watered out of season. Care must be given in watering, keeping them warm and wet while growing, and cooler and dry when dormant."
So I wouldn't risk overwatering this precious plant in winter... by the way, would you mind to tell us the country where you live? It would help the exchange of tips.
Your E. gymnocalycioides is amazing. Do you grow them from seed? Coll plant

Thanks a lot for this info. Will keep in mind. For me the biggest worry and nuisance is monsoon season which will start in few weeks time. Last year, had some casualties. Hoping for better outcome for this season.mmcavall wrote: ↑Tue May 17, 2022 11:22 amNot all tropical regions of the world have a wet climate all year round. I am in Mumbai, India. Climate here is either dry and hot (from Oct till May) or wet and hot (from June to Sep) . I would be very grateful for the tips to keep these alive
I have actually bought this Euphorbia gymnocalycioides. Have 5 or 6 of them and this one is the biggest

Re: My modest collection
Its not the posting on the Forum, it is learning a new camera, not a smartphone. I still have a pull out keyboard 3G. I need to replace that too.abhikjha wrote: ↑Wed May 18, 2022 6:10 amAah ok.. yes posting images on this forum can be a challenging task. Thank you so much!!
In Brazil, the place you are, do you get a lot of rainfall? If yes, how do you care for your plants?

I believe mmcavall has a greenhouse that he/she uses to protect their plants from the rain. See their member blog thread: https://www.cactiguide.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37648
