It was 3 Celsius degrees on the loggia tonight. Minimum for 2 winters. I will check plants at the day. I hope all is good.

WOW! That's a great looking bunch of seedlings! Some of them do not seem to be "Social Distancing" and few have discarded their " facial covering" already....nyuk, nyuk! lol!
I didn't see where you named the species....what are we looking at, please and thank you, tovarich?
My germination rate on the Sclerocactus has so far been 5 out of 40. Might be one more coming up this week. I sowed 3 more test batches this week also. 15 with no seed treatment, 15 with a small hole poked into the operculum and 30 chipped seeds. . My soil temp is around 74-76 F...24C with lighting on 14 hours.

Alexander, they are looking happy and and healthy. Your conditions sound very similar to mine. I harvested seeds from my cactus which bloomed earlier this year.
And like yours, mine is just to see how growing cacti from see goes. Fingers crossed. Going to make more space.

I have removed a few seedlings because of brown stains
Besides some seedlings had troubles with shell. I think this is because I didn't soak this seeds before the sowing.
Also many seedlings has troubles with attachment roots to sand so I manually created holes and replaced seedlings to it.
Best regards,
Alexander

It was 2°C tonight. Ooh... I'm worrying...
In the room on the windowsill my M.picta opened flower. First from 3. This plant should blooms in spring. But when I noticed buds about month ago I replaced cactus from loggia to windowsill.

I grow in house (on the loggia). It is dormant period and I think it's best time for repotting.mikethecactusguy wrote: ↑Tue Dec 15, 2020 11:49 pm Alexander.

Re: Cacti collection from Samara
Nice roots!
I'm not sure the dormant period is the best for repoting. I mean, I'm always in doubt about that.
If you repot in winter and keep the plants completely dry, you will not have roting problems and when spring comes, the plants are already in a new pot, ready to start new growth without being disturbed.
On the other hand, winter is a stressing period to the plant (isn't it?). When you repot during the growth period, plants are stronger and more prompt to grow and produce new roots, so even the disturbing of repoting is not bad for them.
My winter is relatively hot (lets say, between 15 and 20 C celsius), they are not necessarily dormant, but I dont give them water. So I dont like to repot them in winter because it is hot, sunny and dry...so I'm afraid of disturbing them.
