A Spanish/North African plant has been demonstrated for the first time to be able to derive the majority of its water supply for part of the year from the water of crystallisation of gypsum. Definitely a xerophyte if not succulent (I can't tell from the photos). Many other xerophytes are likely to be able to do this.
