The live plants are supposed to be legal, as long as they are for decorational purposes. Atleast thats what I'm beeing told.

Also.. the customs had stamped the packed 'Ikke tollpliktig' (duty free).

potting peyote

Hello! I didn't know where to put this so I put it here. I got 5 small L. williamsii in the mail today, wrapped in newspaper. How long can I keep them like that before I put them in pots? I really want to give them each their own pot, but I an lacking in pots atm, hence the question of how long they...

Note that the upload speed is way off! It's just a peak error. My connection is 10/10 fiber.

Utterly impressed! Sweden seems like the best place for me to look for really nice cactuses. The selection locally is rather dissapointing, especially when the large ones have mealies on them! :( Have you purchased anything from Svante? I've ordered a few plants from him just recently; Hyloc...

Thanks everyone! I've give the mealie infested ferocactus a good rinse, and spent about an hour gently "flossing" the folds with fluffy wool yarn. It looks much better now! Will keep an eye on it (as I do with all my little babies!) for the next few weeks and see if it comes back. Wich I g...

It's already getting quite chilly in the evenings/nights here. Where are you at? We had 45F this morning. I'm in Norway, Trondheim to be more exact. Not sure what the temp was this morning, as I was sound asleep! But now, at 8:30 in the evening it is 7C outside, not really sure what that is in fare...

Hehe, I know.. Cheap salestrick!
Atleast I knew that they were glued on this time, so didn't pick it out because of the flowers.

I'll keep them on as a primitive growth-measure of sorts :)

Do you mean the pale green one that is on the second to last picture? If so.. yes, unfortunately it looks that way. I've given it a spray with alcohol to see if that helps.

Todays planned Impulse purchase!

Purchased these today while out getting groceries. Ended up spending twice as much on cacti compared to food.. oh well  As usual there are no labels on them! :x I can spot the Lithops a mile away, but the rest I have no clue about. http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/userpix/3187_IMG_1486_1.jpg htt...

Oh wow! Some really good information in this thread! :) For now, all my cacti are bought from large gardening supply stores, mostly in small peaty pots. I guess I will have to repot soon then, and not use the cactus-soil I bought at the same store.. it seems to be mostly peat :( Is it ok to just get...

hehe, impulse purchases.. yeah, I have some experience with those!
I might end up coming home with "a little extra" tomorrow, I have to go out and get some groceries anyway.

I will let you know what I got tomorrow! I'm suspecting a big globe of some sort..

Preparations for winter..
Since I got hooked on cacti just recently I hadn't given that aspect of it much thought.

Guess I will have to start MacGuyvering something up soon. It's already getting quite chilly in the evenings/nights here.
