Hello, I'm planning on removing the offsets from this Peruvian torch cactus at some point. I guess I'm wondering where to cut exactly, the pup or a chunk of what its growing out of? Thanks! peace.

Just cut the pup off. No need to cut into the 'main stem'. Make sure the offsets are healthy and not too small. I don't know where you're from, but if you're from the northern hemisphere I would wait until early spring 2024. Unless you have a few months of warm weather and lots of bright indirect light, chances it will roots are small(er). The plant looks healthy, why not let it continue to grow with the offsets?

Thanks for the reply @ohugal! Well, idk really. Last year I had to cut all the new pups you see (that are cut) including the top because it got f'ed up. All the tops turned purple and I had to chop them to save it. I just didn't want that to happen again that's all. And my signature says (Location: Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, Elevation: 4900 ft.) :) , maybe 2-3 months of non freezing weather left.

I remember that post from last year. Did you find out why that was happening?
