Help with a gift-cactus

Hi all,

About a year ago, I got a cactus as a gift from work. I didn't give it much of a thought for about a year and left it in it's original pot and never watered it. This year, my dad kindled an interest in it, so now I'm curious what it is... I threw some pictures of it at the pl@ntnet app and it's not sure either, so here I am.
  • It's about 3 3/4" h x 2" d.
  • pl@ntnet thinks there's a 56% chance it's a spachiana, but it has 17 ribs.
  • The runner up is a hauscha, at 21%, which looks SORT of like my image, but my plant is only about 4" tall.... too young for me to really know.
  • The spines are pokey and not soft
I'm guessing it's either a E.huascha or an E.spachiana hybrid since it looks like one but has too many ribs...

Thanks!
Mitri

17 ribs is not unusual for E huascha. It is likely a hybrid however. Echinopsis species are some of the most hybridised cacti in cultivation.

Looks like hybrid to me (my "Garden News" and "Flying Saucers" have about the same stems).
Have to be wonderful flowers.👍

Thanks, all!

Looks like I'm off to the forums to learn how to get this thing to flower. Thanks for having me!
