These remind me of a rare pale spine type of Mammillaria huitzilopochtli var. niduliformis I saw on a Czech site.

I think you hit the nail on the head.
I had not thought of that species because it is somewhat different from the one I have, but it agrees a lot with the description except for the color of the base of the radial spines, which, as in the type species, is brown and the color of the central ones that it should be darker.
