Gymnocalycium again!

Maybe is a good idea to declare this June a month of Gymnos. And see what progress our plants and collections did since the last time that was 4 years ago.
Stiff spines on the way of buttons...
Not a problem.
Gymnocalycium pflanzii makes it second bloom for the season. They know how.

...that is how it flowers? Nice.
7George, you've got a real lovely cactus.
How convenient that one of these in tiny-weeny grows on my balcony (until it gets too cold at least).

The pic is a little blotchy because of my shade cloth, but my G. horstii's first two flowers of the season! It had it's first flower last year, and this year it's got 5 buds total going. This was one of the first cacti I got, and it's really rewarding to see it blooming at last.

What a joy: This year, after 16 years of waiting, my G. saglionis finally flowered end of May / beginning of June. Just forgot to post the pictures.
It is one of the plants of my "loads of space"-experiment, and it is hard working at using its space up.

Besides, what surprised me most in all those great pictures (thank you all!), is the red-flowering Gymno of 7george.
Somehow, I do not associate red with Gymnos. I
know white & pink, but just know
about yellow or red.
