Hello all, this is my first post here.
I collected this plant in Brewster or Terrell County (possibly Pecos) in 1985. The rancher was about to chain a new fence line, and called them "claret cup cactus". It's seen some tough times but is thriving now. I'm pretty sure it's an Echinocereus, I'd like to ID the species.
Details in pics, any help appreciated,
Thanks a heap,

Re: Echinocereus sp.? From West Texas
Looks like Echinocereus enneacanthus var. dubius
Re: Echinocereus sp.? From West Texas
Thanks! You're very close, I think, certainly enneacanthus. The species you named and similar spellings appear to redirect back to E. enneacanthus. I did find E. enneacanthus var. brevispinus, which I believe it to be now.
Thanks a heap,
