Mammillaria cactus grafted onto a flowering pepper plant.

Just wanted to share a random non-compatible graft that seems to have taken... still no explosive growth however the pepper plant is currently flowering and we are now heading into winter so growth is slowed down. I did a couple more of these grafts on the same day and only this one didn't dry out.

So as would be expected the graft is starting to fail however I am interested in reattempting this during my spring/summer season... Temps here are already reaching 5C some nights and longer nights. I did another graft with astrophytum asterias and it also took however maybe the season is also affecting the success? Maybe will just fail again but won't know unless I try

So the mammillaria graft is a bust but the astrophytum seems to be holding up just over a month since grafting without shrinking so far.
Does anyone know if the swollen/callous xylum section on the pepper plant is normal? I don't have experience with grafted peppers.

This makes absolutely no sense. I don't even think pepper plants are in the caryophyllales order.
Very strange chimera you have there.

Yea pretty weird and it seems that the pepper doesn't have issues accepting cacti. I did another graft using lophpohora and it seems to have taken.
I'm unsure if the cacti are actually fusing or are just adaptive enough that they accept the nutrients from the pepper. I wonder if it flowers if it'll be astrophytum or pepper.

So around 8 months after grafting the astrophytum graft decided to present new growth.
