For how long must a cactus have been in your care, before you can take credit for its flowering?

It’s an interesting topic in my opinion. Certainly no straight forward ‘easy’ answers, as there are many ‘but if’s’ to consider . ‘Death flowering’ is obviously no proof of skills, and just growth can’t be taken as a ‘proof’ either. I can place a cactus in a dark corner and it will grow, but severely etiolated.
