Should I repot now?

Post by gillinger »

I just bought seven new cacti, which are all quite small and still in the peat mix that our Dutch friends are so fond of. As I'm now winding down towards dormancy would it be advisable to wait until spring to repot them? To clean all the current soil away means using plenty of water to loosen it so probably best to wait?

Do it now, I would advice. This time of the year is about the last chance for many cacti to provide it some water. But those bare roots will dry out real fast anyway. And at least they are done for the winter and ready for spring.

Agreed, better now but it's not a crime in winter dormant time to do it.
You and your plant's will not loose precious time of growing season.
