Socotra

Post by Frazer »

A friend questioned my identification which has give rise to doubts, so I just wanted to check whether the attached photographs show Adenium obesum subsp. socotranum rather than Dorstenia gigas. I took the pictures on one of my trips to Socotra.

Well judging from the flowers it cannot be Dorstenia gigas. The second picture is harder to tell but I'd still say it's Adenium.

First one is definitely an Adenium.

Do you have a close-up of the leaves of the second one?

Now I can see that the second photo has a bright pink flower bud that can only be an Adenium.

Both stunning examples, thanks for sharing the photos.
