What Species is This Cactus?

I have a feeling the original owner pulled off the needles, which makes identification a little harder.

My guess is
Austrocylindropuntia verschaffeltii . But this can be also just stunted
A. subulata.

I think you are on the right track with Austrocylindropuntia, but mine has big bulbs growing out of it. I am attaching another photo here.

How about Austrocylindropuntia subulata "monstrosa" ?

Founded even another match for them: Austrocylindropuntia subulata 'Gumby' (??)

It looks like "Gumby" is the correct subvariety.
