It contains some excellent specifics when it comes to taxonomy, and the regional distribution maps are very useful when trying to mimic the natural climates that your individual species might prefer.

I don't have John Pilbeam's book, but probably the most thorough treatment of Gymnocalycium in English is Graham Charles Gymno book. It also shows plants in habitat and those grown from authenticated habitat seed plus flower colour variation..

You can click on the sample pages to get an idea of the contents, though they are slightly blurry. However the type and pictures are crisp and sharp in the actual book.
