Yeah guys. I'd like to chime in also if you don't mind. It's to my understanding also that pretty much all Melocactus should never be exposed to less than 59 F ( 15 C) . I have somtimes in the summer left melos on the balcony at 11C however, I don't make a habit of it. I've also seen other people post that melos can be more hardy than they are given credit for.K.W. wrote: ↑Tue Jan 04, 2022 9:09 pm Good evening Mike,
indeed - your collection has grown mightily.
But there are not only many plants, no they are also very beautiful plants!
Isn't the minimum temperature of 32°F too low for most plants?
I would think even 41°F is way too cold for Melocactus.
Or did I misunderstand you . . . pardon me.
Kind regards

Re: My GreenHouse Build.
Hi All.
Time to get really caught up on pictures and changes and additions. Lets start with the outside. I spent 5 hours Friday and 3 hours today reorganizing the plants outside the greenhouse and the area on the side of the house. Why to messy. Why to unprofessional looking. On the deck I moved all the shelving to the side of the greenhouse and moved the euphorbia and tall plants to the shade side and middle. On the side of the house I needed to get everything off the ground. I used 4ft wide x 24ft deep x 3ft tall metal shelving with wire shelves. And of course the pottery had to get organized in the process.

The shelves are on the east side of the house. So Sun all afternoon until sunset. The next step is to build a shade cloth cover up the face and over the top. Carpentry skills again. That I'm going to tackle in March when I Extend the shade cover on the fron the of the greenhouse/deck. The goal is through spring , summer and fall everything gets direct morning sun until around 11am and then 60% shade covering for the rest of the day. I'm also going to add a fan to the deck side to help move air during the hot season.

Re: My GreenHouse Build.
Hi Keith.
I'm not to worried about the outdoor plants. Predicted lows over the next few nights are around 40°f. The greenhouse on the other hand has 12 melocactus in it so I use a milkhouse heater that holds the temps right at 50°f when it drops. The shade cloth is needed no matter what. the intensity of the sun here in Indo will fry anything quickly.

Re: My GreenHouse Build.
Here is a picture from yesterday. The current layout of the exterior.
I moved some of the barrels over from the side of the house. I brought a few more larger plants out of the greenhouse. And I hung 4 plants that were on greenhouse shelves from the center of the shade artea. This is around 5pm as the sun is getting lower in the shy. I like to sit at this spot and let the sun set and marvel at all the plants.Mike The Cactus Guy

Wonderful!
I could sit there too and have the same pleasure as you.
When I sit with my plants I often think of related friends like you or Frank in Australia. . .
Peace and courage dear friends!!!

Re: My GreenHouse Build.
Some much growing and flowering happening, its hard to keep up. So here are pictures of how things are going just over the past 2 weeks.
Opuntia blooms, Euphorbia Blooms, new acquisitions. Nursing plants. Enjoy all the pictures. Sk questions, please. Yes that is Venus Flytrap. It was dying in the house. It is really enjoying its new home in the Greenhouse.

A lot of my Tephrocactus are growing new segments. The small ones in little black pots are all recent rottings from a few of the larger ones.
