Pumice for Lithops: Size?

Post by From0to10in2weeks »

Hi, I am considering purchasing the Vulkatec Pumice Premium as substrate for my lithops. It comes in particle sizes of 0-3 mm and 3 - 8 mm. Which do you think is better?

One other question: would you recommend washing aquarium sands/pebbles before use as top dressing?

Thanks. Best.

I'd go with the coarser grade of pumice, the finer stuff would include a lot of very fine powder, which is not good to have in your mix.

As for washing aquarium sands/pebbles, I wouldn't bother unless it really looks dirty.
