Many newer cameras (bridge, Micro 4/3, APSc, Full Frame) have the capability to record time lapse. I found that my 4 year old Panasonic bridge FZ-300 has this capability. This comes really useful to record night blooming cacti. https://www.flickr.com/photos/pjpfeiffe ... 833355238/

Some tips from experience:
- set focus using a flash light
take a couple test shots immediately prior to starting time lapse
shoot in manual
use a flash diffuser if using pop-up flash
set white balance to flash
start with a fully charged battery
use a tripod and turn camera image stabilization off
for flower openings 1 to 2 minute intervals between captures
greater number captures produce smother action
use jpg only - there will be way too many pics to develop from raw
camera might shut off between captures - probably will resume with all settings
