Hi All,

Fixed now:

https://carpophyma.page.tl/

Download links are next to the issue number.

It's just a cheap version (as Frank Zappa would have said) but don't forget I'm living in the Southern Hemisphere  (I still stand to this)

Cheers,
Eduart

Hello Eduart,

I have downloaded all three issues of Carpophyma thus far. Thank you very much for making this information available. It is very interesting to read about various wildflowers from far-away places. I also enjoyed the aspect of history present, e.g. some of the work performed by early pioneers of the plant expeditions, etc..

Harald

Hi Eduart.

I have tried your link both here and on the BCSS site but am getting a message my Malwarebytes is blocking it due to fraud? Your early links have always downloaded OK before but now seem to upset Malwarebytes from 3 onwards?.

Perhaps you can get sorted whatever is causing it as I would like to read the E. reichei article?

Dave,

My tablet, running on Microsoft, with Google Chrome, seems to access all of the magazine issues/links including the most recent #5, just fine.

Hopefully I'm not breaking the copyright policy...but here's a snippet of the article you mentioned.

Perhaps Eduart will chime in shortly to assist you.

Steve

Thanks Steve.

My friend has downloaded it from Drobox for me. Evidently it seems Malwarebytes does not like some change that has happened from the Number 3 download, so maybe it is a false positive triggered by some change?

Not read it yet but E. reichei is now usually taken to be a re-description of E. odieri (which being an older name means no name change is needed). The type species is still in the German Dahlem herbarium pickled in a jar, though it was originally thought lost in bombing in WWII but had been removed to another department so survived. The curator at the time kindly took it out of the bottle and photographed it for me and I think Roger Ferryman has the picture now. Of course E. reichei has often been wrongly applied to the E. lembckei types by various authors including Ritter in the past.

Will go and read it now and see if they come to different conclusions.

Edit: Just looked at what Malwarebytes is listing as a threat.

Yes now read the article and it comes to the same conclusions as I have above. The plant from Chile which is pickled at Dahlem as E. reichei = E. odieri since odieri it the oldest name for the species.

The plant that Backeberg identified as E. reichei from a photograph came from Argentina and = Lobivia famatimensis (spelling corrected to famatinensis as it comes from Famatina by David Hunt).

Reicheocactus as a genus and pseudoreichianus as a species is a nonsense by Backeberg due to misidentifying the plant in a black and white photo and associating it with the Chilean Thelocephala's.

http://llifle.com/Encyclopedia/CACTI/Fa ... reicheanus

Lobivia bonniae is closely related to Lobivia famatimensis and no doubt Backeberg would now have put that into Reicheocactus too?
