Euphorbia medusae propagation

I am interested in purchasing some euphorbia - caput medusae, flanagani, muirii, etc but am looking for some buying information first. From what I have read, several of the medusae types, especially in the caput-medusae complex - will not grow a caudex if grown from root cuttings and will develop a un-natural type of growth - more upright than sprawling.
Does anyone have any experience with these to chime in.
I noticed for example, on Arid Lands website they clearly spell out seedling vs root cuttings when describing their stock of muirii, flanagani, etc
