Mt Coot-tha botanic garden (arid/cacti section)

Post by Licespray »

I’ll try and include pics of name tags where I can. Here’s the outside section first.

Hopefully they upload in order.

The big Euphorbia is a Ingens, the lighter coloured one is Annak. Dunno what the spikey one hiding in the Bush is.

The giant Agave was about 7’ tall. And those ponytails were massive!

A lot with no labels. I think there’s a Pachycereus marginatus in there? It’s labelled as a neobuxbaumia?

Also a Welwitschia mirabilis!

Are those Creeping Devils also? (Stenocereus eruca?)

What’s the starfish looking thing?

Hmm oa few of the pics are too large.. have to work out which they are.. anyways, enjoy!

Great shots, thanks for uploading these!
Your "starfish" 3BD9385A-9A43-46B5-810B-FBAF370E82EC.jpeg is a Euphorbia, one of the "medusoid" ones, maybe Euphorbia flanaganii .
I think its Haageocereus tenuis, rather than Stenocereus eruca.

Oh wow what a gorgeous garden! Such a shame the pachycereus pringlei is horribly etiolated. Thanks for taking the time to take photos share them!
Anyone knows what's the leafy plant in the 6th photo? I've seen it for sale here but no idea what it is.

Thanks, bbarv, I’ve wondered that one also!

Agree on the etiolation.

Anyone know what the light bluey coloured thing in pic 21 is?

Elie - all the Kalanchoes I see are those species, and all seem to be about that size. Looked them up - interesting defence system..

Esp - thanks bud, appreciate it :)
