gymnocalycium mihanovichi without pistil

I've been trying to self this gymnocalycium mihanovichi with the cement selfing trick, but there is no pistil on the flower. Maybe mihanovichi flowers are unisexual ?
What would cause this ? The plant has been in a hot enviroment (90+ f) in the shade, I read that heat can cause a flower to not form pistil.
Is this a certainty ?
