Harrisia Fruit

Post by Licespray »

Well, I've had this cactus for awhile and it has had fruit several times but i've never eaten one. Considered it, but never tried.

Today i noticed it had one and thought - I'm gunna give this a go.

Results: Not bad! Like a little dragon fruit, even in appearance (on the inside). Tasted like dragon fruit, but smelt pretty bad after cutting it. The seeds added a delightful crunch that I found pleasant. Verdict: Would recommend.

Hope they go well for you. I don't think anyone eats them here for some reason. Still have half left - gunna see if the wife wants to try it when she finishes work, unlikely though.
