Hello from the Isle of Wight, UK :)

Post by Carl_B »

Hi everyone :-D

I've been a member of British Cactus and Succulent Society's Cactus World forum for a while now but I thought I would branch out so to speak :D I only grow epiphytic cacti, mostly I hasten to add mixed epicactus hybrids although recently I have become particularly interested in hybrids with what used to be referred to as Aporocactus type growth or "Aporophyllums" this makes up the bulk of my collection which is still pretty young consisting of mostly just cuttings or 2yr old cuttings I also have a number of species plants within the Hylocereeae tribe such as Disocactus, Epiphyllum, Pseudorhipsalis, Selenicereus, Weberocereus etc. and I also have some Rhipsalideae thrown in as well such as Hatiora sp. and Rhipsalis sp. so a nice mixed bunch! currently all squeezed into a small heated greenhouse although I'm in desperate need of a second... I'm a member of a number of related groups/societies including The Epiphyllum Society of America & South Bay Epiphyllum Society and EPIG in Germany.

Hello, welcome. You got some nice plants there.
And as the walls come down and as I look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade recalling all of the times
I have died and will die.
It's all right.
I dont mind
I dont mind.
I DONT MIND

Welcome, Carl -- and you DO need to expand -- in a lot of a lot of directions  ! Even if it only means starting with a GH @ 4X the of your current one! Lovely blossoms =D>
Once bitten by the cactus collecting/growing bug, there is no known cure!
There's no 12 step programme for Cactaholics...so I shall just have to get some more!!

Sounds a little TOO familiar! I have a veritable army of seedlings in baggies & out on glass porch, that I can't move because house is Absolutely packed! And until we have some decent weather (probably a month away!) to move some of the hardier ones out, everything is at a standstill ](*,)

Late welcome here! Very nice collection you have- seems like you've already managed to fill your greenhouse with it!
A cactus and succulent collector who especially likes Ariocarpus. …Though I have a bit of everything! Want some pictures? See my flickr! I also do art and such.
