]I am a new member to Cactiguide.com and have been a fan of Cacti, Yucca and Agave for many years. The search is always fun, to find plants that will survive in our cold Winter environment. I have good luck with several Cylindropuntia as well as other varieties. I have attached some pictures of what I have in my garden for others in a similar evironment to see. In Carson City, we average about 20" of snow per year. Moisture is 7" per year, and most of that is in the form of snow. I have recorded low's at -5 degrees F, and we are at 4500' elevation.
