Re: Alber's Seedlings Progress 2013
I thought I should post an update.I could only get pictures of the Ferocacti and the Echinocactus texensis because there was excessive condensation on the other baggies.
These are two Ferocactus seedlings. The green one is normal and growing fine. The red one is a bit odd,the spines are underdeveloped and the grooves are coming out in an odd shape.I think this one is Monstrosus.
Here are two other seedlings

Lovely seedlings. I wouldn't be so hasty to call that seedling montrose, it might well just grow out normally.

About the odd seedling,I'll keep an eye on it and see if it grows like the rest, but if it becomes an oddity,I won't be complaining

Re: Alber's Seedlings Progress 2013
I cancelled my order with Mesa gardens due to some problems, placed an order with Succseed.
Cereus validus
Cipocereus bradei
Copiapoa hypogaea 'mollicula' FK 444 -always wanted to have a Copiapoa.
Epithilantha micromeris SB 125
Eriosyce aurata -This is notorious for being hard, any advice appreciated.
Eriosyce 'Pyrrhocactus' bulbocalyx 'marayesensis' JN 987 - My new favourite
Escobaria vivipara - This has a special place in my heart.
Ferocactus rectispinus - Love the erect spines on this one
Piloscereus azureus - Love the colour
Thelocactus hexaedrophorus ssp. lloydii
Melocactus matanzanus
Cereus aethiops FK 1290
Btw. Echinocactus texensis seedlings came out of their baggy today.
EDIT:I tweaked my order a bit.
Cipocereus bradei replaced by Azureocereus hertlingiananus PH 764.08 (Cotahuasi, Peru)
Copiapoa Hypogeae replaced by Copiapoa humilis
Cereus validus replaced by Sclerocactus unguispinus 'durangensis v. Mapimiensis (Durango,Mexico)

An interested selection there. Eriosyce bulbocalyx 'marayensis' (as opposed to 'marayesensis' ) is indeed a very nice form of a very nice species. Eriosyce aurata hasn't been problematic for me at all. They've grown very strongly and quickly, and as long as you aren't silly with watering they're easy enough. I wouldn't have thought Escobarias would grow all that well in Pakistan, as they're cold-loving plants.

A few growers have a couple of Escobarias here, but it still isn't all that popular.I will just try and hope they survive,do they need frosts for germination?CactusFanDan wrote:An interested selection there.
