Good morning dear cacti friends,

many flowers in a pot - what is the fascination?
Little essay on the subject. . .

Is it the symmetry of the arrangement on the plant, as in this Euphorbia
50283Image

or perhaps the contrast between successful plant body and blossoms-Euphorbia
24596Image

Prominent is also the color of flowers to be very simple, a single flower would be less attractive,
50269Image

Simple flowers in large numbers, almost acting as a large flower, the color comes back here Crassula
56507Image

The large number alone is probably not attractive, but these Mammillaria is blooming beautifully.
49763Image

Simple, large number, even - here as wreaths - arranged, perhaps even more beautiful Mammillaria
50315Image

If those features then there's color. . . Mammillaria
31257Image

Yes because the fascination of many flowers already explained to some extent.

But also plays the knowledge of the plant matter?
Flowers on a large old plant, does that make the appeal?
Turbinicarpus jaunergii
43340Image

Or as in this Ariocarpus, is it the flowers or the flowers on a Ariocarpus?
43393Image

Sure, the multicolor of the flower plays a role, plain striped flowers on einemTurbinicarpus
49620Image

Multicolor, large number, striking colors, Aylostera
50969Image

The way of photography, same Aylostera in a different light
51254Image

But are the compact flowers in bold colors are not much "beautiful", Sulcorebutia
51021Image

This combination of flowers in contrasting colors to the body of the plant, captivating - isn´t it?
49947Image

The whole with signal-color, or better yet striking as in this Sulcorebutia?
49785Image

The spines plays with in, and then a contrasting bloom. . . Mammillaria
31256Image

Is also somewhat "modern", yellow flowers with less contrast to the many-headed plant, Dolichothele
56762Image

Does the size of the bloom affect us, Echinocereus
53159Image

Many large flowers, colored or multicolored strong, these are the most beautiful pictures with many flowers?
Cleistocactus Hybriden
56208Image

56210Image

But perhaps also the simple, monochromatic flowers from stones grow at its best. . .
Lithops

Best regards

K.W.

P.S. tomorrow the rest of the flowers from the 28th of May in the member topics.

That Rebutia Heliosa on the Contest 80 page is that good , it's does'nt look like a catus. It looks like a pot with flames coming out of it.

" Top Notch "

.

I do like Neoporteria too . Do like seeing a big old plant with fireworks erupting from the top of the plant.

Good morning fanaticactus,

I post it allready - a very nice plants with lovely flowers - but not a "winner".
But winning is not the goal for me. Discussion and fun with cactus friends, that's the best!

Just to add to this excellent thread of "alternate " selections that really exhibits the problem we collectively have in picking ONE photo.

A near botanical neighbor to my contest selection, and blooming at the same time.

Submatucana = Matucana, mamillaris - KK1638 n.n. Lumped by some authors into tuberculata but, because of differences in nectary and seed, considered by Bregmen as a possible intermediate between M. krahnii and M. formosa. Either way, another showy cluster.

Great pictures of great plants everyone , it really is a joy to look at them.
A problem with this theme in terms of photography is, that if you want to picture the whole plant with all of the flowers on it you often have to cut back on the flower size pictured in the frame. And if you take a close up photo the great old plant is not pictured as a whole thing.

The solution could be a small and very floriferous plant

Another pic of a Neoporteria with fireworks ejecting from the top and yet more Fire on the bench with the Heliosa.

Echin palmeri is very nice. I find it funny it's leaning like that , but still a fantastic show of blooms.
